About me:
I’m a Senior at Redmond High School, and I’m really passionate about speech, debate, research, and writing. After my first Model United Nations competition in eighth grade, I became engrossed with the world of competitive speech and debate, eventually managing to overcome a lingering fear of public speaking in the process. I loved the rush of arguing for what I cared about and dedicated myself to improving. I won five Model UN awards in my first two years of high school before moving up to supervise and run those competitions instead. I served as director for multiple advanced MUN committees, aiding in selecting the winning competitors. In 2018, I worked for a middle school MUN conference, directly coordinating with the curriculum of the Lake Washington School District and the standards that their Quest teachers desired from the topics covered during the competition. I competed in Speech in Debate as well, accumulating experience in Lincoln Douglass, Public Forum, Oratory, and Impromptu. At the regional level, I placed second in and won best speaker for Public Forum, also winning first in Oratory. I have been elected Vice President of Redmond High School Model United States club for 2019-20.
I hope to use my experience and passion for speech and debate to inspire young girls to get involved with the competitive circuit and build these all important skills integral to success and empowerment.
